Many of us reach a time in life where we begin to question why we’re here, what purpose we’re meant to serve and who we are “supposed to” become. Those questions have been ever present for me from a very early age, largely prompted by the circumstances of how I came to be in the world in the first place. As a result of an extremely uncommon hormonal abnormality, my mother conceived me one month after conceiving a baby boy, giving rise to the unusual situation known as superfectation. While science has little ability to explain this phenomenon in humans, I have always had a very clear understanding of the fact that my soul had manifested a miracle in order to enter this body at that exact time for a very important reason. My mission since has been to uncover the why behind that and so many other mysteries surrounding the human experience.
So eager was I to solve the mysteries of the universe that I mistakenly channeled my detective archetype for many years into a passion for becoming an FBI agent. This interest led me to pursue a degree in psychology and then attend law school. Ultimately, I began my career practicing law at one of the top white shoe firms in the world, rather than investigating crime. I was working fourteen hour days six days a week, eating three meals a day at my desk and trying not to get discouraged as my mid-twenties slipped away. When I managed to schedule an annual physical with my doctor during a rare lunch break, I had no idea how life altering the events of the afternoon would turn out to be. I remember trying to hide my tears when I bumped into a coworker in the lobby of my midtown Manhattan office building as I was returning to work that afternoon. For the first time in my life, I was confronting a diagnosis of dis-ease with ramifications that brought my world, and decisions that would impact the rest of my life, into sharp focus.
While I continued to practice law for a short time longer, much of my attention was redirected towards gaining an understanding of my ability to alter my physical, emotional and psychological states through energetic re-patterning, mindfulness, sound healing and yoga. My doctor had advised me to pursue invasive surgery so as to aggressively attack the dis-ease she had detected in my body. I was equally terrified by the consequences I would face if I agreed to the surgery, as well as the potential health risks I would assume by opting for a different path. As I endured a six month “monitoring” period where we waited to see if the condition would resolve on its own, I became deeply immersed in learning how to detoxify my life from the inside out. This journey, which began with an extensive raw food diet and concentration on studying naam yoga, has led me down a path of discovery that continues to reveal new lessons at each turn. I have become a yoga instructor, energy medicine practitioner and certified professional coach while continuing to pursue a career that began with practicing law and has evolved into business development and marketing. I focus, across all aspects of my life, on helping individuals and organizations reach their highest potential for holistic success and wellness.
